Overview
Rockboat is a rock festival on a boat in a cruise-like format. Their last designs were tiki and island-themed, and they wanted to update into something that wasn’t so on the nose but still had the boat aspect. They wanted to go for a more “hot” brand and steer away from the kitschiness they had to get younger people on board. A design that could be used year after year was needed. They wanted something that would easily mesh with any bands they had on board.
Process
I first started with the color palette, which features almost neon colors to help bring the “hot.” I simplified their logo and made a pattern they could feature on nearly anything they wanted. The simplification of their materials brought a modern look that wouldn’t get tiring to look at year after year. This sleek, modern look also brings a sense of exclusivity to the event that would draw some people in. This relaxation of their brand was designed to bring a greater focus to the music.
